Swimming is not just a sport: lifelong safety
VizVarazs Swimming School provides unique swimming instruction in Szeged for children from 3 months to 5 years. Our methods were developed and practiced in the United States.
About Us
Swimming is not just a sport: it is lifelong safety and a healthy way of life. Our philosophy is to let the child discover the water on their own. We show them the way and support them along it — gradually stepping back as they grow — while letting their memory find its way back to the natural environment they knew before birth. We place great emphasis on letting the child decide for themselves when to take the next big step (e.g. putting their head under water). Feeling in control, they progress faster. With years of experience, we know many techniques to make sure this process meets both the child's and the parents' expectations.
We do not use levels or tests that could add unnecessary stress for the child. We have milestones, reached by each child in their own time. While we try to group children of similar age and skill, we know every child matures physically and mentally at their own pace. Thanks to the methodology we learned in the USA, every child at Vízvarázs can develop at their own rhythm — even within the same group.
We believe a good specialist can tailor instruction to individual needs — or, for example, respond to a two-year-old's mood swings — rather than insisting the child follow a fixed plan. The Vízvarázs model gives our instructors, guided by medical advice, a variety of methods and techniques, and the freedom to decide how to move children from point A to point B. While routine and familiar exercises matter most for the youngest, with us it is not unusual to see sessions that look improvisational from the outside but are in fact tuned to the day's mood and the group's make-up. It is no secret: children learn more enthusiastically and faster when they enjoy what they are doing. Our goal is for them to acquire this indispensable, life-saving skill confidently and happily, and to carry it with them throughout their lives.

Our Instructors
Dolnay Andi
Founder, instructor
I'm Dolnay Andi. I was born in Budapest, and since my father was a water polo coach, I practically grew up at the BVSC pool. I started playing water polo at six and went on to become a multiple-time member of Hungary's youth national teams. At 18 I continued my studies in New York on a scholarship, where I swam and played water polo for the university team. After earning my business degree I worked in my field for a few years, but soon after I joined New York's largest swim school, where I spent six years teaching children — from 6-month-old babies to 18-year-old water polo players. My husband and I founded a water polo team together, but my true love became teaching the little ones — especially after my own children were born. One of the best feelings in the world is watching them smile, seeing how much they are in their element in the water, and how much they enjoy the sheer joy of free movement.
Dankó Zoli
Founder, director
I'm Dankó Zoli. I first bathed in the Tisza at six months old, and water has been my element ever since. I played water polo competitively in Szolnok and Pécs, then continued my studies — and my water polo — in the USA. After earning my degree in economics, I started working at New York's largest swim school, where I climbed every rung of the ladder: I began as a student lifeguard, then taught, and later became the director of a swim facility where 1,200 children aged 0–6 swam every week. Although my role was mostly in the office, I insisted on spending at least one afternoon a week in the pool with the children — and of course, that was always the best day of my week! We also founded a youth water polo team within the swim school, which my wife Andi and I ran together. We had 80 players competing across four age groups, and several went on to join national youth teams. Swimming relaxes, calms, and at the same time keeps you fit and strong — and it's this mindset I want to share with as many children and parents as possible.
Nagyházi Márk
Instructor
I'm Nagyházi Márk. I graduated in 2021 from the SZTE Juhász Gyula Teacher Training Faculty with a degree in PE and Technology education for primary schools. Sport and movement have accompanied me throughout my life. There's hardly a sport I haven't tried — swimming is no exception. Alongside these sports I've gained countless experiences and learned many forms of movement, and I've always loved passing them on to others. I currently work as a teacher at Vörösmarty Mihály Primary School in Szeged, where I teach grades 1–8. I take the first two grades swimming every week, where we continuously develop the pupils' skills. My goal is for my pupils to learn as many forms of movement as possible by the time they become adults. Vízvarázs is a great way to achieve this, because swimming is one of those sports you can't start too early. Among other things, it contributes greatly to the development of the muscles, the respiratory system and the circulatory system. I try to develop these in the most playful way possible — which not only stimulates thinking, but also brings a smile to young children's faces.
Cselenák Kinga
Instructor
I'm Cselenák Kinga. I was born in Zombor, in Vojvodina. I moved to Szeged for my university studies, where I graduated in 2019 from the SZTE Juhász Gyula Teacher Training Faculty as a PE and coaching major, and alongside that I completed a therapeutic-massage course, which I still actively practise today. Over my life I've tried many sports, but football and swimming are the two that truly captured me. For years I played for Szeged's NB1 women's football team, but swimming is what I continue to do as a training routine to this day. I grew up by lakesides and by the Danube, so I can't imagine my life without water, swimming, boating and rowing. Time spent in or near the water is still what relaxes me and brings me peace. Water is part of our lives, and in my experience it's worth getting used to our "relationship with the water" as early as possible. Through creative, movement-based methods, children can grow comfortable in the water through engaging, playful tasks — and learn to swim. That is exactly what Vízvarázs offers. For me, the moment when I see children swimming towards me underwater with a big smile on their faces is one I never tire of.
Suba Imola
Instructor
I'm Suba Imola, a fifth-year teacher-training student at the Juhász Gyula Teacher Training Faculty of the University of Szeged. My majors are English and Physical Education. A love of sport has been part of my life since childhood. It started with gymnastics, then I did pentathlon, swimming and basketball, but in the end volleyball became my chosen sport. Since my teenage years I've spent summers as a camp counsellor for children, and throughout university I've had the chance to gain teaching experience across many sports — including swimming. As a future teacher, I think it's essential that we help even the youngest children fall in love with movement. It's wonderful to see how, at Vízvarázs, children can master the basics of swimming in such a playful way!
Molnár Bence
Instructor
I'm Molnár Bence Levente, currently studying to become a swimming coach at the Juhász Gyula Teacher Training Faculty of the University of Szeged (SZTE). Sport has always been an integral part of my life — I tried several disciplines such as swimming and football, but eventually settled on kayaking. Water confidence is a fundamental requirement of this sport, and I gained mine over my years as a swimmer. With regular swimming sessions always built into my weekly routine, I never truly left the sport behind — and that foundation sparked my interest in the theory of swimming as well. During my kayaking years I won two Hungarian National Championships. I come from a large family where life was always bustling, which taught me the power of community and to cherish shared joys. I have three younger siblings, so I easily find common ground with little ones. I use a variety of playful approaches to guide children through tasks, and I know how to keep the mood bright even on a grey weekday.
